150 Muslim Baby Girl Names with Arabic Meaning (Quranic & Beautiful)

In the same spirit as our boys’ names guide, this article brings together a curated selection of Muslim girls’ names across three categories: Quranic, names of the righteous women, and classical Arabic beauties. Each entry includes the Arabic script and the meaning you’re asking the name to carry with your daughter.

Naming a daughter in Islam

The Prophet ﷺ said that on the Day of Resurrection we will be called by our names and our fathers’ names, so we should choose beautiful names. The seventh-day aqeeqah for a girl is one animal (traditionally one sheep), with the meat distributed to family, neighbours, and the poor. Many families in many countries arrange this through a halal farm or a charity that distributes overseas.

A beautiful Islamic tradition is to choose a name that is both a prayer for your daughter and a signal of her heritage — something like Maryam, honouring the most noble woman mentioned in the Qur’an; or Sakina, meaning tranquility.
