Ovulation Calculator

Predict the days you are most likely to conceive in the next three cycles. See your fertile window, the two peak days, the date your next period is due, and when to take a pregnancy test if this cycle succeeds.

How does ovulation work?

Ovulation is the moment an ovary releases a mature egg. It typically happens around 14 days before the next period — not 14 days after the previous one. That is why cycle length matters: a 32-day cycle means ovulation is usually on day 18, not day 14.

Your fertile window

Sperm can survive inside the reproductive tract for up to 5 days; the egg lives for about 24 hours after release. That gives a roughly 6-day fertile window — the five days before ovulation plus the day of ovulation itself. The two days leading up to ovulation are peak fertility.

Signs of ovulation

  • Cervical mucus becomes clear, stretchy, and egg-white-like.
  • Basal body temperature drops slightly then rises 0.3–0.6 °C after ovulation.
  • Mittelschmerz — mild one-sided pelvic twinge.
  • Ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) detect the LH surge 24–36 hours before ovulation.
  • Heightened libido and a slightly higher cervix.

Tips to conceive faster

  • Intercourse every 1–2 days across the fertile window doubles monthly conception chances versus weekly.
  • Both partners: stop smoking, limit alcohol, and eat a Mediterranean-style diet.
  • Maintain BMI between 20–25; both extremes reduce fertility.
  • Take 400 mcg folic acid daily from the moment you start trying.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is an ovulation calculator?

Very accurate if your cycles are regular. Irregular cycles (varying by more than 4–5 days month to month) reduce accuracy — pair with OPK strips or basal body temperature tracking for best results.

Can I ovulate more than once a cycle?

You can release more than one egg within 24 hours of each other (hence non-identical twins), but you cannot ovulate twice at different points in the same cycle.

What if my cycles are very irregular?

Track basal body temperature for 2–3 cycles and use OPK strips during your likely fertile days. If cycles are consistently above 35 days or below 21, see your GP.

Does stress delay ovulation?

Yes — significant physical or emotional stress can delay ovulation by days or even skip it for a cycle.

When is the best time to try?

The two days leading up to ovulation. Intercourse a day before ovulation gives the highest conception probability.
