Transliteration

Ḥasbiya-llāhu lā ilāha illā huwa, ʿalayhi tawakkaltu, wa-huwa rabbu l-ʿarshi l-ʿaẓīm

English meaning

Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I rely, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.

When to recite

Many Muslim mothers recite this verse as labour approaches and during the contractions themselves. It is a complete declaration of trust: “Allah is enough for me; there is no god but Him.” Repeat it on each contraction, between breaths, or while you walk through early labour. It anchors your heart when your body is doing the hardest work it has ever done.
