Transliteration

Rabbi-shraḥ lī ṣadrī, wa-yassir lī amrī, wa-ḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī, yafqahū qawlī

English meaning

My Lord, expand for me my chest, ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue, that they may understand my speech.

When to recite

This is the dua Musa ˣ made before facing Pharaoh — asking for an open chest, an easy task, and a clear tongue. Birth-prep classes, hard conversations with family about your birth choices, advocating for yourself in a maternity ward — all of these are easier with this dua on your tongue. Many mothers also recite it as labour intensifies and clarity is needed.
