رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration

Rabbanā ātinā fī d-dunyā ḥasanatan wa-fī l-ākhirati ḥasanatan wa-qinā ʿadhāba n-nār

English meaning

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

When to recite

This is the most beloved dua in the Qur’an, recited at the close of Hajj and at the end of countless du’a sessions. Make it part of every salah during pregnancy: “Our Lord, give us good in this life and good in the next, and protect us from the Fire.” For an expectant mother, the “good in this life” carries a particularly tender meaning.
